Suw Charman

Open Rights Group

Suw Charman is Executive Director of the Open Rights Group (www.openrightsgroup.org) and a social software consultant. Suw co-founded the Open Rights Group in July 2005, together with Danny O'Brien and a number of other digital rights activists.The Open Rights Group's aims are to raise awareness of digital rights issues, to campaign against bad legislation in Britain and the EU, and to support grass roots activism. With a background in journalism, publishing and web design, Suw is now one of the UK's best known bloggers, frequently speaking at conferences and seminars. Suw's blogs include Chocolate and Vodka (chocnvodka.blogware.com) and Blogiculum Vitae (suw.org.uk). In her capacity as a social software consultant, she advises companies in the UK and America on the use of blogs and wikis in business. She works with companies in the banking, media and public relations sectors to help them understand how social software can be used both behind the firewall and as marketing and external communications tools.
